Breast Augmentation

Considering all of the parts of a female body, breasts are an area that a lot of people (men and women) pay attention to. They can enhance or diminish one’s confidence and self-esteem.

The truth is, there are not many alternatives to breast implants. Many over the counter products, from lotions to essential oils, promise the world but they are far from being efficient. Fortunately, there is a surgical solution that can provide you with long-lasting breast implants, right here in South San Francisco.

We are a specialized office that works on breast augmentation procedures for a wide spectrum of women. Regardless of your age, body type or ethnicity, Dr. Liu and our team will give you a customized and personalized consultation to make sure we find the right fit for you.

What Is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure used to increase the size and projection of the breasts with the help of prosthetic breast implants. Not only can this enhance the size of both breasts, it can also be used to remedy size asymmetries.

If you are interested in breast augmentation, you will need to meet with Dr. Liu for a consultation. As part of this consultation, you will tell Dr. Liu about your goals for the procedure.

The specifications of the breast implants you choose will determine the results you get from your breast augmentation. Implant size, filling, and shape will all make a difference, as will implant placement relative to the chest muscles.

In terms of fillings, you will need to choose between silicone and saline breast implants. Implants come in round and teardrop shapes, and a wide variety of sizes will be available.

Once you have made your choices with the help of Dr. Liu, he will create a surgical plan, and the date can then be set for your surgery.

The Breast Augmentation Procedure

At the start of the breast augmentation procedure, either general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation will be administered. The type of anesthesia used will depend on the preferences of the patient and Dr. Liu, and this will be discussed during the consultation.

Once the anesthesia has taken effect, incisions will be created. Incisions can be made in several areas depending on a number of factors. Options include transaxillary (in the armpit), periareolar (around the areola), and inframammary (in the breast fold).

Pockets can be made in the tissues through these incisions. After pockets have been made, implants are inserted through the incisions and positioned in the pockets. To finish the procedure, the incisions are closed with sutures.

Breast Augmentation Recovery

Once your breast augmentation is complete and you are ready to return home (usually the day of the procedure), the healing process will begin. During this time, it will be vital to follow Dr. Liu’s post-operative care directions as closely as possible.

You will need to wear post-surgical bras without underwire while your tissues are healing. This will provide the necessary support without injuring the weakened tissues.

Bruising and swelling are common and will disappear over time. Painkillers will be prescribed as needed. Take some time off from work to recuperate, and avoid any physically taxing activities.

Breast Augmentation “Without Surgery”

Your breasts can be enlarged by the injection of your own fat into them. Fat removed by liposuction usually from your abdominal wall or thighs can be modified so it can be used to augment and shape your breasts by simply injection it into your breast without any surgical incision. This way you will have liposuction and augmentation of your breasts at the same time.
